Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to exam the psychometric properties of the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory for college students. The sample consisted of 400 college students in Islamic Azad University (109 male AND 291 female). The sampling method was multi-stage cluster sampling. The Persian form of Ambivalent Sexism Inventory was used in the study. The results of principle component factor analysis showed a two factor solution for the inventory. The alpha coefficient AND test-retest reliability coefficient revealed an acceptable reliability for the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory. In sum, the results showed that the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory is a useful instrument for research job.

Abstract:

Background: A growing body of preclinical data indicates that statins may possess antineoplastic properties; however, some studies have raised the possibility that statins may also have carcinogenic potential. Methods: An air pouch model was used for angiogenesis. Single or multiple applications of croton oil on the back of Swiss albino mice with or without initiation by dimethylbenz(a)antheracene (DMBA) were used to evaluate the skin tumorgenesis, ultrastructural AND histological alterations. Results: Atorvastatin (orally, 10 mg/kg/day) produced a significant (P<0.05) reduction in angiogenesis. Concurrent administration of mevalonate reversed the antiangiogenic effect of atorvastatin. However, local injection of atorvastatin (200 mg) into the pouches induced a significant (P<0.5) increase in angiogenesis that was not reversed by co-administration of mevalonate. The disturbance of cell polarity, inflammatory response, thickness of epidermal layer, AND mitotic index induced by croton oil were inhibited markedly AND dose-dependently (P<0.001) by pre-treatment with atorvastatin. In spite of the strong anti-inflammatory AND anti-proliferative effects of atorvastatin on epidermal cell proliferation, it was identified that the same doses of atorvastatin in DMBA-initiated AND croton oil-promoted skin tumorgenesis in mice increased the incidence of tumors AND their conversion into malignant carcinoma. Conclusion: The reasons for these discrepancies remain unclear, AND could be related to ambivalent effects of atorvastatin on angiogenesis or to specific differences in the experimental conditions. It is suggested that the pro-angiogenic effect of the drug, which could be responsible for promotion of skin tumors, is independent of the 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibition that can be mediated directly by atorvastatin.

Abstract:

Travel writing, once a marginalized genre, gained critical recognition following Edward Said’s Orientalism. This genre flourished during the interwar period, with literary figures like Annemarie Schwarzenbach contributing significantly to its development. Despite its literary value, Schwarzenbach’s travelogue has been largely neglected by scholars. Responding to Said’s call for an exploration of Swiss Orientalism, this study critically examines Schwarzenbach’s work using a refined version of Said’s framework. The analysis reveals that Schwarzenbach’s vision of the Orient is marked by ambivalence, rooted in a conflict between her Orientalist perspective AND her genuine engagement with the cultures she encounters. This ambivalence manifests in her critique of Orientalist stereotypes—such as the supposed depravity of indigenous peoples AND their allegedly unsanitary culinary practices—while simultaneously romanticizing the "travellees" as noble savages AND linking their cuisine to the sensual allure of the Orient. Additionally, her expressed solidarity with oppressed nomads is counterbalanced by her use of Orientalist notions of nomadism. Finally, the study shows how she intertwines her adventurous vision of the East with a suspension of hermeneutical interpretation.

Abstract:

One may say that The Open Society AND Its Enemies (OS) offered in 1945 the first complete elaboration of the general approach proposed by Karl Popper, namely his ‘critical rationalism’, a bold generalization of the fallibilist falsificationism in the domain of the empirical sciences masterly proposed in Logik der Forschung (1934). The political content of The OS has been critically discussed. Nevertheless, not all people insist on the equally important moral dimension of the book, giving it its unity, I submit. Without morality, no critical discussion, no reason, no open society, let us say in a nutshell. I would argue that according to Popper, a strictly Christian morality of love would not be the appropriate emotional companion of critical rationalism, but that the less demANDing moral emotion of sympathy or compassion is perhaps necessary to give it its force against violence. I give some support to this line of argument. In my view, Popper proposed a somewhat unarticulated critical rationalist ‘emotivism’ of sorts. The emotion of compassion is necessary for triggering our moral decisions AND values, which are the ultimate basis of the choice for a reason against violence.

Abstract:

Attachment style is one of the effective factors in interpersonal interactions, which is formed as a result of a person's relationships with attachment figures (parents, peers, AND spouse) AND significantly affects the performance AND marital relationship. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the relationship between secure, avoidant AND ambivalent attachment style with marital adjustment in married students. The research method was applied in terms of purpose AND descriptive-correlation in terms of data collection. The statistical population included all married students of all levels of Azad University, Tehran branch in 2016, of which 184 people were considered as the sample size using Cochran's formula AND available sampling method. Data collection was based on four stANDard questionnaires of marital adjustment (Locke-Wallace, 1959) AND attachment styles (Hazen AND Shaver, 1987). Analysis of the information obtained from the implementation of questionnaires was done through SPSS20 software in two descriptive AND inferential sections (Pearson's correlation coefficient, AND multiple regression). The results of the research showed that there is a positive AND significant relationship between secure attachment style AND marital adjustment of students. There is a negative AND significant relationship between avoidant attachment style AND marital adjustment of students. Also, there is a negative AND significant relationship between ambivalent attachment style AND marital adjustment of students. Therefore, it can be concluded that with pre-marriage counseling AND determining their attachment style AND marital compatibility, it is possible to predict AND if necessary, provide the necessary training to achieve more satisfaction AND compatibility in life.
